Earlier in October, Hog Roast York catered for an event at York Racecourse for 200 staff members, including security, vets, stable hands, and more. The catering was organised by Emma as a way to celebrate the final day of a very successful racing season. Our catering managers Chris and Kayleigh were on hand to ensure that the perfect catering package was chosen and that everything was under control on the day of the event. For the menu, our classic hog-roast package was chosen, with an additional meat-free dish to ensure that there was something for everyone to enjoy.
On the day of the event, the Hog Roast York team arrived stableside at the racecourse and set up our catering station for the 12:00pm serving time. We then began by slow-roasting two hogs, which needed around five hours to cook to perfection. Once the pork was ready, it was expertly carved by our chef and served in fresh bread rolls, alongside sage and onion stuffing, homemade applesauce, and crispy crackling. For meat-free guests, we provided grilled vegetable and halloumi skewers, which is a tasty and nutritious main dish. Our catering was served across a four-and-a-half-hour span to ensure that all 200 team members could enjoy a delicious buffet lunch. Our catering was a great addition to the final day of the season and was enjoyed by all!
