A local community centre has organised a selection of events to take place across the summer holidays, including a children’s treasure hunt taking place in August. The hunt was mapped out across the sports fields, with children running to discover pirate-themed clues and facts in return for a prize! To make the event family-friendly, the community centre also hired Hog Roast Hoyland to provide a delicious meal for the grown-ups to enjoy, alongside some tasty hot dogs and burgers for the children.
On the day of the event, the Hog Roast Hoyland team arrived at the community centre in advance of the 1:00pm mealtime. Our team got to work preparing the dishes while the guests began the hunt, enjoying the smell of our food whilst it cooked! We began by preparing the main dishes, which included pork sausages, veggie sausages, British beef burgers, marinated chicken kebabs, and halloumi and veggie skewers. The mains were served with fresh bread rolls, as well as corn cobettes, crunchy coleslaw, homemade chips, sweet potato fries, and seasonal salad dishes. Overall, this created a varied and tasty menu, with more than enough to go around. The menu went down a treat and was a great addition to the event, which was a huge success with the local children!
