Several years later, we are still feeling the effects of COVID-19 in many different ways. During the peak of the virus, public celebrations such as weddings were not allowed to take place, meaning that many couples had to cancel their big day last minute or go ahead with a significantly different plan. Because of this, couples across the country have been enjoying belated celebrations and receptions, which Hog Roast York is always happy to cater for!
Richard and Lakshmi officially got married during COVID-19 and had a closed ceremony, which meant that their family and friends were not able to attend and they missed out on many traditional wedding celebrations. To make up for this, the couple planned to host a belated wedding celebration this July to allow them to enjoy the occasion with guests from all over the world, including some coming from as far as Malaysia. To make the event as memorable and enjoyable as possible, Hog Roast York was hired to provide catering for the occasion. Our team was on hand to serve a delicious slow-roasted hog for the guests, with a variety of delicious sides and salad options.
On the day of the event, the Hog Roast York team arrived at the couple’s home in the city and got to work preparing our menu for the 70 guests. We began by slow-roasting the hog and ensuring that it was packed full of natural juices and flavours before it was expertly carved by our chef. Once it was time to serve, the hog was expertly carved and served in fresh bread rolls, alongside sage and onion stuffing, homemade applesauce, and crispy crackling. For meat-free guests, we also provided grilled halloumi and vegetable skewers. To create a balanced menu, our team served a selection of tasty sides, including homemade chips and a selection of seasonal salad dishes. Our menu was the perfect addition to this event and definitely went down a treat!
