Hog Roast Thirsk Caters A Magical Wedding At Low Osgoodby Lodge!

You wouldn’t believe how much travelling our job involves. Or maybe you would. Either way, you won’t catch us moaning about it – we see it as another perk on an ever-growing list. Getting to explore corners of South Yorkshire that most people never see is something we’ll never tire of, so when Sylvia and Rob asked Hog Roast Thirsk to be part of their wedding at Low Osgoodby Lodge last month, our answer was a big, fat yes please.

In case you haven’t been, Low Osgoodby Lodge is about as far out in the sticks as you can get. It sits at the foot of the Hambleton Hills with its own private lake and a roomy tipi for celebrating in, which makes it a dream come true for outdoorsy couples wanting a bit of magic on their big day. And no, being in the middle of nowhere didn’t faze us one bit.

Rural venues can put other caterers in a bit of a spin, and sometimes that means pre-made food ends up on your plate at a wedding. For Hog Roast Thirsk, though, it’s what we were made for. Our grills are lightweight and gas-powered, so we can cook up a storm pretty much anywhere you want us. And Sylvia and Rob wanted us close enough to the tipi so guests could watch the action, and we were more than happy to oblige.

Once everyone had settled in and worked up a proper appetite, our team served the hog roast straight to the tables. Guests who’d asked for salmon or a meat-free option got theirs too, and every plate came with applesauce, sage and onion stuffing, fresh salads, potatoes and sauces to boot.

It went down a treat, of course. But we weren’t finished showing off quite yet. Later in the evening, as more guests arrived to join the celebrations, we fired up the grills once more for a proper barbie. We’re talking beef burgers, sausages, Thai chicken kebabs, veggie skewers, coleslaw and fries: the whole shebang. And because you can never have too much food at a wedding, we also laid out a gorgeous grazing table, which barely stayed in one piece long enough for us to snap a photo.

By the end of the night, Sylvia and Rob couldn’t thank Hog Roast Thirsk enough for all the delicious food we’d prepared. We were just thrilled to be included. Their big day was everything they’d hoped for and then some, and will definitely be the hot topic of conversation between guests for some time to come.
