You can’t beat a street party—no matter how old you are! These community events bring together people from all walks of life, creating a vibrant atmosphere that’s impossible to resist! And, last weekend, Hog Roast Penistone was thrilled to be part of a neighbouring town’s lively street celebration, which showcased just how thrilling these events can be.
This all-day event, running from midday until 9 pm, featured an incredible lineup of entertainment options, ensuring there was something for everyone. The festivities kicked off with a diverse array of live music performances and DJ sets that kept the energy high throughout the day.
For the younger attendees (and those young at heart!), fairground rides provided endless excitement, while hook-a-prize stands offered a classic carnival thrill. The beer and fizz tent was the perfect spot for adults to unwind, and the artisan stalls showcased a range of handmade goods, adding a touch of local charm to the event.
Food lovers were in for a treat as numerous food stalls lined the street, offering an impressive selection of culinary delights. From pizza and ice cream to tacos and Greek gyros, the variety of options ensured that every palate was satisfied. In the midst of this gastronomic wonderland, Hog Roast Penistone was proud to showcase our signature dish: the hog roast.
Our catering managers, Chris and Kayleigh, had no trouble drawing crowds to our stall. The sight of our full-size hog slowly roasting over real flames was a captivating spectacle that drew curious onlookers from all corners of the event.
The aroma of the sizzling pig filled the air, and as Chris and Kayleigh expertly carved the meat, the crackling—golden, crisp, and perfectly roasted—was met with awe. The tender, smokey meat was served on soft, fluffy rolls, complemented by sage and onion stuffing and applesauce, creating a flavourful experience for everyone who stopped by.
The quality of the pork, combined with the impeccable presentation, made Hog Roast Penistone’s stall a favourite among attendees. The rich, fire-kissed flavour and melt-in-your-mouth texture of the pulled pork were met with enthusiastic praise. Guests were more than willing to stand in line for a taste of our famous spit-roast, and by the end of the event, Chris and Kayleigh had completely sold out of every last bit!
