Over the weekend, Hog Roast Barnsley had the honour of catering for a truly special event – a celebration of life, love, and resilience. After a courageous two-year battle with cancer, Marianne received the life-changing news that she is now cancer-free! To mark this incredible milestone, her children, Jason and Robyn, decided to throw an unforgettable party to honour her strength and newfound freedom. And we were so fortunate to be part of it!
Jason’s house, complete with a designated party cabin in the back garden, was the perfect setting for this heartfelt celebration. On Saturday afternoon, 80 of Marianne’s closest friends, family, and even neighbours gathered to shower her with love and support.
Marianne had no idea the party was happening until she walked through Jason’s front door. Her surprise and joy were palpable as she was greeted by a sea of beaming faces and a beautifully adorned cabin decked out in balloons, streamers, and the warm glow of a roaring fire!
Hog Roast Barnsley was stationed just outside, with our catering gazebo set up to serve a feast that perfectly complemented the joyous atmosphere. The menu? Our crowd-pleasing Southern Slow Roast – a nod to Marianne’s dream of travelling the United States.
Prepared with care by our expert catering duo, Chris and Kayleigh, the food was nothing short of a triumph. The BBQ pork butt, Texan-style 24-hour beef brisket, and Cajun-spiced whole-roasted chickens were all cooked low and slow, allowing the flavours from our signature marinades to shine through. For vegan guests, the BBQ-pulled jackfruit rolls with plant-based coleslaw proved to be an undeniable hit. And let’s not forget the sides – a delectable spread of sweet potato fries, crispy traditional fries, creamy mac and cheese, and refreshing potato salad, which left guests raving.
As plates were piled high and laughter echoed throughout the cabin, it became clear that this event was far more than just a party – it was a testament to the power of hope and the unyielding support of loved ones. Seeing Marianne’s face light up as she enjoyed the food and the company of her family was a moment we’ll never forget.
Hog Roast Barnsley is incredibly proud to have played a part in such an important occasion, and we wish Marianne all the best on her exciting journey ahead. Here’s to health, happiness, and new adventures!
