Christmas party season is well and truly in full swing – you can practically feel it in the air. Tinsel in shop windows; people darting around with gifts poking out of bags; and that familiar mix of excitement and mild panic that December always brings. For us at Hog Roast Sunderland, it’s also the time of year when our calendars turn into a colourful mess of bookings, prep notes and travel plans. And honestly? That’s our favourite thing about it.
December is when we get to do what we love most: sling on our aprons, fire up the roasters and feed a whole lot of very happy people. It’s also when we get the chance to catch up with some of our favourite regulars – like the fantastic Northern Gas team, who’ve been inviting us to cater their Christmas do every year since 2022.
This year’s celebration takes place on the 17th of December at their Doxford International Business Park site, where we’ll be serving 120 hungry guests a proper lunchtime feast. As always, the star of the show will be our signature hog roast.
We’ll be arriving bright and early to get the hog roasting long before the guests gather, giving the meat time to become tender and the crackling to reach that perfect, irresistible snap. When service starts at midday, guests can pile their plates high with pork scratchings, sage and onion stuffing and a spoonful of applesauce. Soft gluten-free rolls will be on hand for those who fancy building the ultimate Christmas sandwich, and we’re bringing along fries – classic or sweet potato – plus butchers sausages and new potatoes for anyone wanting to bulk out their plate.
And of course, Hog Roast Sunderland never forgets our veggie and vegan guests. Grilled vegetable and halloumi skewers will add a burst of colour and flavour, especially when paired with tzatziki or a kick of chilli sauce. We’re also bringing twelve portions of veggie sausages to ensure everyone feels properly included.
We can’t wait to be back with the Northern Gas team. They always bring a brilliant atmosphere, and we’re confident this year will be no different.
