Every now and then, Hog Roast Scunthorpe gets the chance to be part of something extraordinary. Like last month when our team was called in to serve some of our incredible food at a Breast Cancer Awareness event nearby.
This highly anticipated event was held at The Winterton Showground and was organised by our amazingly talented client, Liz Holden in the hopes of spreading awareness and raising vital funds for a great cause.
Not only had Liz picked out a cracking venue for the day, and a top-class caterer to match, but she’d also organised plenty of activities and secured an ABBA tribute band to keep the 200 attendees entertained all night long.
With hundreds of hungry mouths to feed, and so much going on, it was all systems go for our catering managers, Chris and Kayleigh.
To help our team get through the masses of ravenous guests as quickly as possible, Hog Roast Scunthorpe set up two separate serving stations. This allowed us to halve our serving time while still being bubbly, friendly and approachable with each of the guests. In fact, we’re proud to announce that we managed to feed all 200 guests in under an hour and 15 minutes! How’s that for speed? Just call us Lightning McQueen from now on. Just kidding…sort of.
Anyway! As for the food itself, guests could hardly believe their taste buds. Our whole roasted hogs served with crackling, stuffing and applesauce on gluten-free rolls and wraps had everyone weak at the knees. And as if that wasn’t enough? Our meat-loving friends were welcome to sink their teeth into some of our ultra-tasty marinated chicken thighs and homemade butchers sausages, which had just the right amount of crunch on the outside and a moist, juicy and succulent interior.
Don’t worry, we’d never let our non-meat-eating friends go hungry either. They tucked into Hog Roast Scunthorpe’s legendary grilled vegetable skewers with optional halloumi, flatbreads, tzatziki dip and a punchy sweet chilli sauce on the side. There were also plenty of irresistible side dishes on offer, comprising tomato and mozzarella salad, mixed salad, coleslaw and piping hot new potatoes
To say we had fun at this event would be an understatement. With rave reviews coming in from all directions and live entertainment keeping the atmosphere electric, Hog Roast Scunthorpe enjoyed ourselves as much as the guests did.
